After School Programs

Children deserve more than just babysitting from their school year program, they deserve excitement and adventure while building a healthy spirit, mind and body.  That is exactly what the YMCA provides.  The new Totally Kids School Year Program allows children to spend their afternoons in a safe environment.  Children have fun in guided recreation, develop lasting friendships, and develop age-appropriate skills.  The program focuses on the fitness of each child in spirit, mind and body.  Each activity is planned specifically to help strengthen each child in one of these three areas.  Our staff model and reinforce the values of caring, responsibility, honesty, respect and faith in God as they guide children through the daily activities.

We offer 3 options for After School Care: 5- day, 3-day and year-round care for the following schools-  Ellenboro Elementary School, Forrest Hunt Elementary School, Harris Elementary School, Pinnacle Elementary School, Rutherfordton Elementary School, Spindale Elementary School, Thomas Jefferson Classical Grammar School-CFA.  We currently offer the 5- day option for Lake Lure Classical Academy.  We do not offer drop in care, however contact us and we will do our best to provide you and your child the care that is needed.

The Open Doors Program

The YMCA strives to serve everyone regardless of their economic situation.  That is why we have the Open Doors Program.  The Open Doors Program provides financial assistance to those that qualify through generous contributions to our annual We Build People Campaign.  To see if you qualify, just bring your tax return from last year with you at the time of registration.
